Swedish researchers studied archived specimens of 462 Swedish men aged 44 to 50 who subsequently developed prostate cancer as well as 1,222 matched control subjects. They found that a single PSA test at age 44 to 50 years had substantial value for predicting subsequent clinically diagnosed prostate cancer. This could be useful in assigning men to risk groups.
